Processor

The CPUs in the M4 Pro and M4 Max feature the fastest single-threaded performance in the industry and deliver dramatically improved multithreaded capabilities. The GPUs have been upgraded with faster cores and a ray-tracing engine that is twice as fast as the previous generation. The M4 Pro is designed for users with demanding workflows, featuring an up to 14-core CPU and up to 20 GPU cores, offering graphics performance up to 2.4 times faster than its predecessor. The M4 Max takes performance even further with a 16-core CPU and up to 40 GPU cores, making it suitable for heavy tasks like video editing and 3D rendering.

Ports and Memory

In contrast to the standard M4, the M4 Pro and M4 Max feature Thunderbolt 5, allowing for high-speed data transfer. Additionally, they come equipped with MagSafe 3, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The base memory has been increased to 16GB, up from 8GB in the earlier model.

Apple Silicon powers Apple Intelligence, which marks a new era for the Mac by integrating personal intelligence into the personal computer. This system utilizes the capabilities of M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips, along with the Neural Engine, to enhance how users work, communicate, and express themselves. Key features include systemwide Writing Tools for refining text, a redesigned Siri for seamless interaction, and creative tools like Image Playground and Genmoji. Importantly, Apple Intelligence prioritizes user privacy with on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute for complex tasks. Users can also access ChatGPT within Siri and Writing Tools without needing an account, while privacy protections ensure that personal data remains secure.
