16” Apple MacBook Pro M4 gets a price drop for some variants

Apple also announced the release of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro. This model features the M4 chip Pro and M4 Max and doesn’t feature the standard M4 chip. The device features a larger display and bigger battery life compared to the regular 14-inch MacBook. Design and Build

The new MacBook Pro features the same design as its predecessor. Just like the regular 14”, it features a casing made from 100% recycled aluminum. But as the name specified, the dimensions are slightly bigger at 248.10 x 355.70 x 16.80, with a weight of 2.11 kg. Customers can choose between two color options: Silver and Space Black.

Display

The device is equipped with a Liquid Retina XDR display. It supports a sustained brightness of 1000 nits and peaks at 1600 nits for HDR content. The display also offers ProMotion technology, allowing for adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz. There is also an option for opting for a nano texture display. 

Processor 

At the core of the new MacBook Pro is the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. Built using advanced 3-nanometer technology, these chips improve performance and power consumption. The CPUs in the M4 Pro and M4 Max feature the fastest single-threaded performance in the industry and deliver dramatically improved multithreaded capabilities. The GPUs have been upgraded with faster cores and a ray-tracing engine that is twice as fast as the previous generation. The M4 Pro is designed for users with demanding workflows, featuring an up to 14-core CPU and up to 20 GPU cores, offering graphics performance up to 2.4 times faster than its predecessor. The M4 Max takes performance even further with a 16-core CPU and up to 40 GPU cores, making it suitable for heavy tasks like video editing and 3D rendering.

Ports and Memory

In contrast to the standard M4, the M4 Pro and M4 Max feature Thunderbolt 5, allowing for high-speed data transfer. Additionally, they come equipped with MagSafe 3, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The base memory has been increased to 16GB, up from 8GB in the earlier model.

Apple Intelligence and Camera 

Apple Silicon powers Apple Intelligence, which marks a new era for the Mac by integrating personal intelligence into the personal computer. This system utilizes the capabilities of M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips, along with the Neural Engine, to enhance how users work, communicate, and express themselves. Key features include systemwide Writing Tools for refining text, a redesigned Siri for seamless interaction, and creative tools like Image Playground and Genmoji. Importantly, Apple Intelligence prioritizes user privacy with on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute for complex tasks. Users can also access ChatGPT within Siri and Writing Tools without needing an account, while privacy protections ensure that personal data remains secure.
