Two years after the launch of the DJI Mini 4 Pro, we finally got to hear something about the DJI Mini 5  Pro. Though the official release may not be until late 2025, here's a sneak peek at what the eagerly awaited drone DJI Mini 5 Pro might offer.

DJI Mini 5 Pro Rumor Overview

Camera and AI Features

One of the most anticipated upgrades is in the camera department. Rumors suggest that the DJI Mini 5 Pro could feature a larger 1-inch sensor, a notable step up from the Mini 4 Pro's 1/1.3-inch sensor. This upgrade promises to deliver better image quality with improved dynamic range and sharper visuals. Additionally, the Mini 5 Pro is expected to pack advanced AI tracking capabilities. This would allow the drone to follow fast-moving subjects more accurately. Other than that, we can expect 5G connectivity for smoother better control, real-time video transmission, and higher resolution.

Longer flight time

The DJI Mini 4 Pro already offers impressive flight times of up to 40 minutes. However, rumors indicate that the Mini 5 Pro could push this even further. We are guessing a flight time of 55 minutes, possibly even one hour.

Potential LiDAR technology

Another intriguing possibility is that the DJI Mini 5 Pro could feature LiDAR technology, similar to what’s found on high-end models like the Air 3S. If true, this would make the Mini 5 Pro the world’s first ultralight drone with LiDAR.

Design and Rest

In terms of design, the DJI Mini will likely stick to its limit of 250 grams because this weight limit is something DJI highly values. After all, it allows US users to fly drones without requiring an FAA license. If that is the case, it will be quite a challenge for the DJI Mini to use a large sensor or a more powerful battery. So, in terms of form factor, there might not be much of a change.

DJI Mini 5 Pro Release and Availability
