DJI Osmo Mobile 7 Overview
Design and Build
The Osmo Mobile 7 features a lightweight one-handed design with a weight of just 300 grams. Its compact size measuring 278 x 107 x 93 mm makes it easy to carry and use. With a load capacity ranging from 170 to 300 grams, this device is compatible with any smartphone. Moreover, the gimbal includes onboard controls like an integrated joystick and additional buttons on the handle. A system status indicator shows the battery level and current gimbal mode. There’s also a zoom slider for adjusting the focal length and zooming in or out on your smartphone.
The back trigger is handy too; pressing it three times switches to selfie mode. For smooth movement the gimbal includes Pitch (Tilt), Roll, and Yaw (Pan) axes which makes it easy to capture stable footage. The Yaw can rotate up to 309 degrees, the Roll up to 312 degrees, and the Pitch can tilt 60 degrees within its controllable range. Notably, the gimbal has a following speed of 120-degree transitions while shooting.
Shooting Features
The Osmo Mobile 7 stands out with its upgraded ActiveTrack 7.0, which improves stability and tracking for long distances. It automatically tracks human subjects without requiring manual selection making it incredibly convenient for users. Smart Capture is another great feature that allows effortless subject switching with just a tap on your phone's screen.
The gimbal also offers Intelligent Shooting Modes that includes Timelapse, Motionlapse, and Hyperlapse for blending time seamlessly in your shots. For parents there’s a unique Parent and Kids Mode that automatically captures moments with children and offers various templates to create lasting digital memories.
Battery and Connectivity
The Osmo Mobile 7 has a long battery life, running for up to 10 hours on a full charge. Once the battery is drained, it can be fully recharged in just 2.5 hours using the included power cable and USB-C port.
For connectivity, the gimbal uses Bluetooth 5.3. A notable feature is its ability to connect with two DJI Mic Mini transmitters without requiring a receiver unit. This adds flexibility and convenience for users looking to improve their audio quality.
