Pixel Watch was Google's first take on smartwatches. It came with a minimal design, Fitbit integration, and all the Wear OS goodies. Now Google has launched its successor — the Pixel Watch 2! Here, we will be discussing everything the Google Pixel Watch 2 has brought to the table, its expected price in Nepal, specifications, and more!
Google Pixel Watch 2 Overview
Design and Display
Design-wise, the Google Pixel watch has not deviated much from its predecessor. It has the same round, domed design with 100% recycled aluminium for the housing and fluoroelastomer with a soft-touch coating Active Band. Furthermore, the display receives a custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection along with 5 ATM water resistance. The new watch from Google measures 41 mm in diameter, and 12.30 mm in thickness, and weighs just 31 grams without the strap.
Up front, we are greeted with an AMOLED display with 320 ppi pixel density. It is capable of achieving 1,000 nits of peak brightness along with the DCI-P3 color gamut. The Google Pixel Watch 2 comes in three housing colors: Polished Silver, Matte Black, and Champagne Gold. It is then coupled with four colors of the Active Band: Bay (Light Blue), Obsidian (Black), Hazel (Grey), and Porcelain (White). You can get more Active Band options in the Google Store.
It was long speculated that the Pixel Watch 2 would be receiving Qualcomm's new Snapdragon W5 Gen 1. We can now confirm, it is the case. To be more specific, the new smartwatch comes with Qualcomm 5100 coupled with Cortex M33 co-processor. Google promises smoother and stronger performance along with improved battery life with this combination.
Furthermore, the Google Pixel Watch 2 features a 2GB SDRAM and 32GB eMMC flash storage. In terms of OS, it is powered by their proprietary Wear OS 4.0. Google proudly says that the Pixel Watch 2 is the only smartwatch with all of Wear OS 4's capabilities. They say that the new OS makes your watch more customisable and easier to use along with showing preview images and GIFs, one-tap actions, and added app choices.
Battery and the rest
The battery has been the main caveat of the original Pixel Watch and an upgrade was expected this time around. The Pixel Watch 2 ships with a 306 mAh lithium-ion battery, which is a mere 4% upgrade. However, Google claims the new smartwatch is capable of giving you 24 hours of battery life with always-on-display turned on. Furthermore, the watch can be fully charged in about 80 minutes with the USB-C fast charging cable, that comes in the box.
The Google Pixel Watch 2 features WiFi 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, and 4G LTE wireless connectivity along with NFC support. In terms of navigation, it features a five-way navigation system with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS. It also comes loaded with a plethora of sensors, a built-in microphone, and a built-in speaker.
Google Pixel Watch 2 Price in Nepal and Availability
The new smartwatch from Google launched alongside the Pixel 8 series on 4 October 2023. It is available for pre-order at a starting price of USD 349 and will be available from 12 October in 30 countries.
