Lenovo recently updated its Legion Slim 5 series of laptops for 2024 with the latest AMD chips. And the good news is that the ninth generation of laptops have made their way to our country as well. Design and Display

The 2024 update of Lenovo Legion Slim 5 inherits the exact design as its predecessor. As such, it gets a monotone finish with a large series branding and a smaller company logo on the lid. Additionally, there is also the little nudge up at the top of the screen. Material-wise, it comes with aluminium on top while the base is PC-ABS (plastic). It ships in a single “Luna Grey” colour and comes with a 4-Zone RGB backlit keyboard with a dedicated numpad. On the front, you get an IPS panel that stretches 16 inches and spans WQXGA in resolution while offering a 100% sRGB colour gamut. Besides that, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 (2024) is available in two different screen configurations in the international market. However, the one available in Nepal is the lower of two options with a 165Hz refresh rate, and 350 nits peak brightness.

Performance

Once again, you get multiple different configurations of the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 (2024) on the performance side of things. It can have up to AMD Ryzen 9 8945H processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, 32GB RAM, and 1TB storage. Nonetheless, the model that arrived in Nepal comes with AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS SoC, 16GB RAM, and the highest level of graphics card and storage. Given that, the processor packs eight cores, 16 threads, 16MB L3 cache, and clocks in at a peak of 5.1GHz. Meanwhile, the discrete GPU offers a boost clock and TGP of 2,175MHz and 140W respectively. Similarly, the memory here is a dual-channel DDR5-5600 while for storage you get a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. Furthermore, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 (2024) can be upgraded to 64GB memory, and with another 1TB SSD.

Battery and the rest

In the tank, this laptop comes with an 80Wh integrated battery along with either a 170W or a 230W power adapter. The USB ports on this laptop include two Type-A and two Type-C, all of which are USB 3.2 Gen 2. In the meantime, one Type-A is an “Always On” port while one Type-C supports Lenovo PD 140W charging. Additional port options on the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 (2024) include an HDMI 2.1, one 3.5mm headphone jack, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and an SD card reader. Lastly, for wireless connectivity, you get WiFi 6E as well as Bluetooth v5.3 support.
