Lenovo targets the ThinkPad E14 at small businesses and office personnel who are always on the move. So, it is designed to be strong and portable. For this, Lenovo has used anodized aluminum on the laptop's top and bottom. Alternative to this all-metal chassis is the aluminum top with a polycarbonate bottom cover setup which is slightly thicker but weighs less. There are two colors to choose from: Black and Mineral Metallic.  You are offered two choices for display too. Most of the models feature an IPS panel, but there are also SKUs with inferior TN panels. Even the most basic IPS screen offers better viewing angles and brightness levels than the TN screen. Users also get 100% sRGB coverage and touch support as optional upgrades.

Performance

Lenovo updates the internal components every year. The 2022 iteration of ThinkPad E14 is available with 12th Gen Intel “Alder Lake” and AMD Ryzen 5000-series processors. On the Intel side, you can go as low as Core i3-1215U and as high as Core i7-1260P. The AMD variants are powered by the “Barcelo” refresh of Zen 3 processors. You can configure the laptop with up to AMD Ryzen 7 5825U. Also exclusive to the Intel variation is the option for MX550 discrete graphics.

Security and Productivity

Lenovo has included a touch-style fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button as a security measure. The webcam is secured with a sliding shutter. You also get an IR sensor for Windows Hello authentication on select models. Each model comes with a Kensington lock against theft and TPM solution. The laptop boot on Windows 11 with the redesigned taskbar with Microsoft Team integration for collaboration. In addition to the webcam mentioned above, the ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 features Harmon Kardon speakers and dua array mics for conference calls.
