While the exact launch of Motorola Edge 50 Neo is still unclear, the company has gone ahead and launched the base model of the series. They say this phone is the slimmest to have a MIL-STD-810H grading. Let's discuss more about the Motorola Edge 50 in this article while also guessing what its price in Nepal might be.
Motorola Edge 50 Overview
Design and Display
The Motorola Edge 50 has the company's standard 2024 design with a seamless camera island on the back. The phone's back panel can either be leather or suede — both of which are vegan options. The Jungle Green and Peach Fuzz will have the former material while the Koala Grey will have the latter. This phone is the slimmest phone with MIL-STD-810H grading at 7.79 mm thin. This means the phone has gone through some extreme durability testing such as high pressure, cold, shock, etc. On top of that, it is also IP68 rated.
Moving on to the front, the Motorola Edge 50 has a 6.7-inch pOLED panel with curved edges. This screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 360Hz touch sampling rate. It stretches 1.5K in resolution, reaches a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, and covers a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. Additionally, it dons Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for added protection.
Performance
For performance, the Motorola Edge 50 packs the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition. This processor is an overclocked version of the regular Qualcomm chip where the clock speed has been bumped from 2.4GHz to 2.5GHz. Other than that, the rest of the architecture of the chipset is the same.
In addition, the phone comes in a single configuration of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It is also capable of virtual RAM extension but seems to lack external storage expansion capability. The Motorola Edge 50 offering has a vapour chamber as well to keep things cool and running smoothly. On the software front, it will boot on Android 14 and will receive two and three years of software and security updates respectively.
The camera department on the Motorola Edge 50 is led by a 50MP shooter coupled with a Sony LYT-700C sensor. Additionally, you also get a 13MP ultrawide/macro camera with 120° FOV and a 10MP telephoto lens with up to three times optical zoom on the back. Likewise, the selfie camera is a 32MP unit. Motorola has not forgotten to add some AI features dubbed “Moto AI” as well.
The Motorola Edge 50 packs a 5,000 mAh cell in the tank. The 68W wired and 15W wireless charging support completes the power system on this phone. It also comes with inter-device connectivity. You to connect with other devices like your PC and TV with Smart Connect and Moto Connect.
