There are a lot of interesting things going on at CES 2025, and AMD’s unveiling of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D alongside the 9900X3D CPUs was definitely one of the major highlights.  Now, AMD has also revealed the official pricing of the latest processors. These new CPUs boast Zen 5 cores, have higher clocks, and can draw much more power but the former is particularly special as it is officially the best consumer CPU you can get for your PC for now! In this short piece, we’ll briefly go through the specs, and improvements, and draw comparisons with Intel’s current flagship CPU alongside AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D’s expected price in Nepal and availability details.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Overview

CPU Cores and Clocks

The Ryzen 9950X3D is the successor to the Ryzen 9 7950X3D launched back in 2023. It’s the company’s flagship offering for gamers and ships with 16 cores Zen 5 cores and 32 threads in total. The base clock gets a 100MHz boost to 4.3GHz while the boost clock remains the same as previously at 4.7GHz. But don’t be fooled by the modest improvements in frequencies, the Ryzen 9950X3D has a much higher TDP at 170W (compared to 120W on the 7950X3D) so it’ll likely be a good bit faster. Also, the new chip has a whopping 144Mb of 2nd gen 3d Vcache where the cache sits below the cores allowing the CPU to hit higher clocks without heating concerns.  

Improvements and Competition

According to the brand, the new chip performed about 8% better on a 40-game average at 1080p than its predecessor: the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. On the same benchmark, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D beat Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K with a substantial 20% lead. Lastly against its own gaming-oriented Ryzen 7 9800X3D announced just a while ago, the new chip performs neck and neck but without any noticeable boost in performance. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Price in Nepal and Availability 

AMD has announced the official pricing and launch date for both Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D processors. Starting on March 12, the Ryzen 9000 3D V-Cache CPUs will be available for USD 699 and USD 599 respectively. When it makes it to Nepal it will start with no less than NPR 97,999.
