Qualcomm may launch Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 on April 2nd
On April 2nd Qualcomm has scheduled a launch event for a new flagship Snapdragon product in China. Although there has been no official confirmation about the product, it will likely be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Let’s dive into the details about this launch and the chipset’s specifications.

      Not the Snapdragon 8s Elite

While earlier rumors were hinting that the upcoming flagship chipset from Qualcomm is going to be the  Snapdragon 8s Elite, we now know that this chipset will be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. How? This upcoming processor lacks the Oryon cores that are found in the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

      Performance

In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 will come with one Cortex-X4 core running at 3.21 GHz, 3 Cortex-A720 cores at 3.01 GHz, 2 Cortex-A720 cores at 2.80 GHz, and 2 Cortex-A720 cores at 2.02 GHz. This multi-core setup ensures that the chip is highly efficient, with performance tailored to different needs. In terms of graphics, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 uses the Adreno 825 GPU. This is part of the same generation as the Adreno 830 GPU in the Snapdragon 8 Elite. However, it has fewer cores. This should still provide solid graphics performance though it may not reach the same level as the 8 Elite in some scenarios. Additionally, this processor has 6MB of system-level cache (SLC) and 8MB of L3 cache to enhance efficiency. Based on early benchmarks, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is expected to score over 2 million points on AnTuTu. This places it between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in terms of overall performance. So you can expect strong performance in most scenarios, though it’s not quite as powerful as the Elite variant.

      Availability

The first devices to feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 are likely to be the iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro and Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. Additionally, there are rumors suggesting that the Poco F7 may also debut with this chip. While nothing is confirmed yet, this chipset is expected to be available by mid-April 2025. Let's wait together!
