With time, the gaming laptop market has become segmented. You can choose from the budget, mid-range, or flagship categories. Here, we've compiled a list of the best budget midrange gaming laptops under NPR 120000 (1.2 lakh) currently available in Nepal.
If you are looking to game on your laptop, a specialized 'Gaming Laptop' will provide you with a much better experience than regular notebooks and ultrabooks. The barrier to entry for most gaming laptops available in Nepal is around the 1 lakh rupee mark. Here, we have curated a list of the best available laptops under 120000.
How to choose a gaming laptop under NPR 120000 in Nepal?
Let's first start with the things that you should consider before buying an entry-level gaming laptop. At this price range, you can't hope to blaze through heavy games but most titles should be playable without many hiccups. The most readily available card for laptops is going to an RTX 3050 (6GB) with DLSS support. While you'll occasionally find laptops with a RTX 2050 card or older RTX 3050 with only 4GB of VRAM, you should probably skip those due to their age. Sometimes, you might get lucky and score a deal on an RTX 4050 which makes a HUGE difference in games supporting DLSS 3 because of Frame Gen.
As for CPU, you can go with either Intel or AMD as long as you are getting the H-series processors (Intel 13/14th Gen or Ryzen 7000/8000 series). The Intel Core i5-13420H and the i5-12450H are currently DOMINANT in this segment but under the hood, they are the same chip with slightly different clocks. As such, regardless of the choice you pick, you are getting very similar CPU performance.
Instead, pay more attention to RAM and storage. Most gaming laptops under Rs. 1.2 lakh in Nepal ship with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD, which is not enough for gaming in the long run. So, upgrade to 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD whenever you can, even if it means going over the budget by a bit.
144Hz refresh rate screens are common, but unless you are into competitive gaming, it should not bother you much even if the machine is at 120Hz. Most laptops in this price range come with panels with 250 nits of brightness and 45% of NTSC coverage. Things like portable form factor, metal body, MUX switch, and RGB backlighting are rare.

Acer Nitro V 15 (2023)
Like our previous budget gaming laptop listicle, this one features a similar range of models so it's no surprise that the ever-popular Nitro V 15 (2023) makes a second appearance. This one features a more powerful RTX 4050 card although it's capped at around 75W. Despite that change though, the rest of the machine is pretty much the same as the previous Nitro.
You get a 13th Gen Intel Core i5-13420H with 8 cores and 16 threads with a top clock speed of 4.6 GHz. The RAM/SSD config remains at standard 16/512 GB but you can configure the Nitro with extra RAM or storage during the time of purchase. The display is fast (144Hz) though not as color accurate (45% NTSC) or bright (250 nits). And you get a decent size 57Wh battery with a 135W brick in the box.
Next up is the Victus 15 which is definitely the most bang for your buck deal that you can get at this price point. I mean you are getting an RTX 4050 GPU for just NPR 106k, that's no ordinary steal, that's a robbery! That's paired with a very capable Ryzen 8645HS CPU based on effficeint 4nm fabrication with great single and multicore performance as well.
There's also the Intel version but with some catch, it's more expensive and features a relatively lesser powerful RTX 3050 card. Both the NVIDIA cards run at around that 65-75W threshold and feature 6GB of GDDR6 video memory.
As for other things, you get 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a Gen 4 512GB SSD. The display is also decent for gaming with its 144Hz refresh rate, <10ms response time, and good viewing angles. Unfortunately, as is the norm, the brightness and colors aren't the best. The design looks minimalistic, and it won’t look out of place even in school and office settings but the build could do with some extra love.
All in all, if you are looking a budget gaming laptop with best price to performance, the 2024 HP Victus 15 with Ryzen 5 8645HS and RTX 4050 is the deal to get right now!
And for the best gaming laptop you can get today for around 1.2 lakh rupees is the LOQ 15 from Lenovo.
For starters, you get the Intel Core i5-13450HX paired with a 6GB RTX 4050 at higher 105W TGP and you also get a MUX switch with advanced Optimus to switch GPUs without a restart. Moreover alongside 16GB of DDR5 RAM, you get a 512GB SSD with an extra M.2 slot for your game library which was missing on the Victus.
There's also an AMD variant but it's not as competitive with a Zen 3+ based Ryzen 7235HS with just 4 cores and without an iGPU alongside less powerful RTX 3050 graphics at around the same price ballpark. We recommend skipping that one in favor of Intel this time.
Build-wise, you won't find anything out of the ordinary with an all-plastic chassis. It also has got quite a heft to it at 2.4 kilos. But overlooking those two things, the 15.6" Full HD display with its 144Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB colors, and 300 nits of brightness is quite a find. Port selection and connectivity are also pretty decent with three USB-3 ports, a Type-C port with 140W power delivery, an HDMI, and an ethernet port. There's dual-band WiFi 6 support with Bluetooth 5.2.
