WorldLink’s free WiFi service is available at over 14,000 hotspots across various public locations, such as restaurants, parks, and airports. Users can connect via the SSID "Free_WorldLink_Wi-Fi" after a one-time registration with a mobile number and OTP. The service provides limited data per device daily and aims to bridge digital divides in under-connected areas.

Telecom Companies’ Concerns

While this comes off as a rumor, Telecom providers including Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Ncell, have reportedly raised concerns that the free WiFi service has led to lost revenue, as users can avoid mobile data plans. They claim that this has greatly affected their profits, and were compelled to request the service shutdown.

NTA’s Review Process

The NTA has not made a final decision on the matter. Chairman Bhupendra Bhandari stated that the authority is still reviewing the situation and will assess the impact on both telecom companies and consumers before making a decision.
