Xiaomi has officially confirmed its new in-house chipset, named XRING O1. CEO Lei Jun announced via Weibo, marking Xiaomi’s return to custom SoC development after the Surge S1 in 2017. This article will discuss everything about the latest XRING O1.
XRING O1 is being developed by Xiaomi and will launch by the end of May 2025. This chipset is the company’s first in-house processor since 2017.
The chip uses a 1+3+4 core structure. It includes one prime core at 3.2 GHz, three performance cores at 2.5 GHz, and four efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz. The specific core types are not yet confirmed and may change in the final version. Additionally, XRING O1 is built on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process.
The XRING O1 is expected to offer solid performance. It may not match top-tier chips like Snapdragon 8 Elite or Dimensity 9400, but early expectations suggest it could perform on par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This makes it a notable first step for Xiaomi in the custom chipset segment.
